Two new play parks in Newry welcomed

Newry SDLP Councillor Michael Savage has welcomed the news that residents in the Carrivemaclone and Newtowncloughoge areas are to get two new play parks.

Newry, Mourne and Down District Council AHC Committee agreed to include the two local play parks for major upgrade early in the new financial year.

Speaking to Newry Times, Councillor Savage said, “I am delighted, after pushing hard to have these two play parks included for upgrade in the new financial year that the play park schemes at Carrivemaclone and Newtowncloughoge will go ahead.

“This will mean that the children of the area will have brand new play parks hopefully in time for the summer holidays.

He continued, “This is a great boost for the people of Carrivemaclone and Newtowncloughoge and the people of the area will have a say in what goes into the play parks.

“Playboard will be carrying out consultation with local residents, schools and groups over the coming months to ensure that their ideas for what will make a great play park for their area are included in the design.

“This is great news for Carrivemaclone and Newtowncloughoge as the areas will now get long overdue state of the play facilities,” Councillor Savage added.
