Ennis calls for review of gambling industry

Sinn Féin MLA Sinead Ennis has reiterated her party’s call for a full review of the gambling industry to tackle the rise in problem gambling.

The South Down MLA said, “Sinn Féin have continuously voiced concern about the growing issue of gambling addiction.



“There should be a full review of the gambling industry’s practices such as online betting, sponsorship and the rise in technological gambling.

“Gambling addiction affects not just the gambler, but has an impact on friends and family.



“More must be done to ensure to help problem gamblers and those at risk.

She added, “I want to reiterate Sinn Féin’s call for stricter legislation and regulations on all forms of gambling and its advertisement.”
