Knife-wielding man robs Newry shop
Detectives are appealing for witnesses and information following the report of a robbery at commercial premises in a shopping centre in the Killeavy Road area of Newry.
Shortly before 6.30pm on Saturday, 3rd February, a male, armed with a knife, entered the premises and demanded money from a member of staff.
He left the store with a sum of money.
Speaking to Newry Times, Detective Sergeant James Johnston said, “The member of staff was not injured, however they were left very badly shaken.
“I would appeal to anyone who may have witnessed this incident or anyone who has information that may assist with police enquiries, to contact Detectives at Newry on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference 1039 03/02/18.
He added, “Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime.”
