‘Diesel waste dumping the actions of selfish criminals’ – Larkin

Sinn Féin Councillor Mickey Larkin has said there is anger and frustration in the local community following the latest incident of dumping of laundered diesel waste in South Armagh.

Speaking to Newry Times, Cllr Larkin said, “This latest occurrence of dumping was brought to my attention by disgusted residents.

“Three weeks into the new year and we have the first diesel waste abandoned along our roads.

“There is massive damage being done to animal, plant and no doubt human health by this waste. Those involved are disfiguring an Area Of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and should desist immediately,” he continued.

“Despite what appeared to be a period of respite, yet more toxic waste has been dumped in our countryside by selfish criminals.

“Meanwhile citizens and Sinn Féin representatives will work to undo this damage and promote South Armagh and its visitors to embrace all that the Ring of Gullion has to offer.

Larkin added, “I have reported this waste to the Environmental Health Dept. of the Council and wish to see this waste cleared as soon as possible.”
