Increased parking spaces for Carlingford Park
Newry City Sinn Féin Councillor Valerie Harte has welcomed the news that there will be increased car parking spaces in the Carlingford Park area.
Speaking to Newry Times, the local councillor explained, “Local Carlingford Park residents have been frustrated for a long time with the lack of action by the Housing Executive and Roads Service to address their requests for more car parking spaces, particularly for those residents who have severe mobility issues.
“Myself and Mickey Brady MP have been involved with supporting the local lobby to address the parking issue and we have had a series of meetings with Department of Infrastructure Roads Service Officers and the Housing Executive.
“We are delighted to say that permission has now been granted for the creation of additional car parking spaces in Carlingford Park and we expect work to begin soon.”
Councillor Harte added, “This has been a lengthy process but hopefully the creation of additional parking spaces will help residents living in the Park and go some way in alleviating the ongoing parking pressures.”
