kerryA trio of talented performers will be taking to the stage next week at the Grand Opera House in Belfast in a new production of the hit musical comedy Me and My Girl.

The show is produced by one of Northern Ireland’s most successful companies, St. Agnes Choral Society who are celebrating their sixtieth anniversary this year.

25th March 2017Kerry will be familiar to lots of people in the Newry area as a member of the Lislea Dramatic Players and also as director of the Newry Acting Up group.

Kerry told Newry Times, “It’s a great feeling to be back at the Grand Opera House and with such a wonderful show. Me and My Girl is a real feel-good musical full of singalong songs like Leaning on a Lampost, the Sun Has Got His Hat On and Lambeth Walk.

“The cast are terrific and the show is going have everyone singing and dancing in the aisles,” he added.

Joining Kerry on stage is fellow Newry stalwart Jim McGuigan who plays the drunken Lord Battersby. Jim has been very busy recently juggling rehearsals for Me and My Girl with his role as director of the Newry Bosco’s recent hit production of Oliver.

Completing the Newry contingent onstage is rising talent Ciaran McCormack. Ciarán is part of the show’s electrifying dance troupe but he’s no stranger to the spotlight, having played the lead in a production of Footloose at the Waterfront Hall earlier this year.

The Newry connection doesn’t stop there however as the whole show is actually being choreographed by award winning local choreographer Anne Marie Morgan.

Anne Marie has choreographed several shows at the Opera House and has won numerous awards for her work and was named choreographer of the year in 2002 by Dance Northern Ireland.
