Masked man attack in Bessbrook leaves man in 60s with facial injuries

psni19Local police are appealing for witnesses following the assault of a man in his 60s in the Charlemont Square East area of Bessbrook.

The assault happened just before 11pm last night, Wednesday 19th April.


 

Speaking to Newry Times, Sergeant Thomas Shields said, “This man was reported to be carrying a child’s carrycot, containing a number of other items, from a house and putting them into his car when he was approached by a male wearing a balaclava.

25th March 2017“This male spoke to him before assaulting him and making off with the carrycot and its contents. The victim is believed to have suffered facial injuries.


 

“The assailant is described as being around 5’ 6” in height, of heavy build and having a local accent.


 

“We would like to hear from anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area late last night to get in touch with police on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference 1373 of 19/4/17.
