Clanrye Group launches exciting programme aimed at young people in Newry

Clanrye Group 2Clanrye Group has launched an exciting new programme aimed at young people aged 16 – 25 years old, not in education, training or employment living in the South Armagh and Newry City areas.

REGENER8 is funded by the International Fund for Ireland and managed by the Rural Development Council.

The cross community Youth Development Programme is designed to increase each young person’s vocational skills, personal development, employability and social development.

The year-long REGENER8 programme will provide a range of Level 1 and 2 accredited qualifications, tailored work experience, volunteering projects as well as the opportunity to take part in events, fun activities and trips to promote social inclusion and peace and reconciliation.

Speaking about the launch, General Manager Liam Devine explained, “This new programme is extremely important not just for Clanrye Group but also for the services already working in the South Armagh and Newry City area.

jan-2017“REGENER8 is a fantastic opportunity for young people from different geographic and cultural backgrounds to come together, to learn together and give their time to something positive and long lasting for all members of our community.

He added, “Whilst on the project, participants are developing both long lasting friendships and a greater understanding of the differing communities in which we now live.”
