Free Santa home visits for Newry children
For the last three years The Brain Injury Foundation has been offering free home visits by Santa and his elf to children with disabilities across Newry and Mourne.
Speaking to Newry Times, Frank Dolaghan, Chair of BIF, is one of Santa’s special helpers and said, “Santa usually visits some children with disabilities in their own homes before Christmas and these visits will continue this year but Santa Claus is getting so many requests he might not be able to get round everybody, even though he is magic.
“To make sure Santa can see as many children as possible he has asked the Brain Injury Foundation to organise a special Santaland event which will be open only to children with disabilities for a special time.
“A new Santaland event is being held by BIF in its Camlough premises from Friday 9th to Sunday 11th December and the Friday evening from 5pm to 9pm is being reserved exclusively for children with disabilities who may face challenges attending traditional Christmas events.

Frank continued, “As well as visits to the real Santa and his elves there will be story telling by Mrs Claus, an Art corner with the Fairy Godmother, kiddy rides, face painting, a special Santa post box and opportunities to meet characters such as Elsa, Olaf and Mickey Mouse.
“Mums and dads can take as many free photos as they wish and can have free tea and coffee. Santa looks forward to seeing many boys and girls at Camlough,” he added.
To help ensure the event delivers a proper, stress free service to special children and carers a quiet room will be available. Any parent interested in bringing a special child to the Friday evening event must book a slot in advance by telephoning 02830839943.
Requests for home visits can also be made to this number or by email: info@thebraininjuryfoundation.com
