July 2016Speaking to Newry Times, volunteer Andrew Steed explained, “My role as a volunteer includes meeting and greeting service users as they arrive and escorting or directing them to the hall. We have a chat as they arrive and this continues as we do our warm up walk around the hall.

“I ensure equipment and seating is ready for use and liaise with the coaching staff about which activities we will be doing. I have really enjoyed getting to know the clients and have been amazed at their skill levels, speed of learning, competitiveness and the delight that they get from the activities.

“I only volunteer for 2 hours per week, but it is the most rewarding 2 hours and I would encourage anybody with a few hours to spare to consider helping out with the Fit 4 U 2 programme,” he added.

If you are available at the times outlined above and would like to find out more information about the volunteer role, please contact Rhonda Richardson, Fit 4 U Co-ordinator;
