Carnagat Community Association, in conjunction with Youth Advice Support & Information Point (YASIP) hosted an event in the Carnagat Community House around the effects that cannabis can have on young people. carnagat7The Carnagat Community Association is a group of residents who live in the Carnagat Area and act as a representative voice for all the residents of the Greater Carnagat Area. A number of people attended the event to find out what drugs are in our society today and how it is affecting young people. People were amazed at how easy and cheap it is for young people to get access to these drugs and how it is affecting their personal development now and later on in life. They also got their eyes opened to how much drugs have become the social norm in our society today and that it is important to inform and show our young people the affect drugs can have on them. Drug use has been a major problem in Carnagat as well as many other communities in the Newry area and the Carnagat Community Association hope that this event is the first stepping stone in trying to tackle this problem in order to give young people a brighter future.
