50,000 counterfeit cigarettes seized by police in South Armagh

Newtownhamilton LPT officers have seized a quantity of counterfeit cigarettes. psni44Officers received a report of a two vehicle road traffic collision on Glassdrummond Road, Crossmaglen, at 12.28pm on Friday, 15th January. The driver of a black Citroen Berlingo van which was in collision with a white transit van made off from the scene. Constable Des O’Sullivan said, “We attended the scene and found approximately 50,000 counterfeit cigarettes and several kilogrammes of rolling tobacco in the Citroen Berlingo van. He added, “The male driver who made off from the scene is described as being in his 20s, of stocky build with dark hair. HMRC were notified. We would ask anyone with information to contact us on 101, quoting ref: 437 150116.”
