Dumping to be ‘monitored’ at Newry’s Patrician Court

Sinn Féin councillor Liz Kimmins has revealed that the Patrician Court area in Carrivemaclone is to be more closely monitored in order to identify those dumping at the site.

LizKimmins“I held a site meeting this morning with local residents who had contacted me, NI Railways and NMDDC representatives regarding the ongoing problem of dumping and the lack of maintenance in this area,” she said.

“Residents expressed their frustration at the neglect of the area as it has attracted regular dumping of household items and building materials and they feel it has left the area looking very run down.

“Council reps highlighted how it is a criminal offence to dump illegally and assured us there will be closer monitoring of this in the community in order to identify those responsible.

Kimmins added, “NI Railways have also agreed to look at a long term solution to prevent further dumping and also to tidy up the area.”
