Sinn Fein Councillor Mickey Larkin has called for increased vigilance by residents in the Mullaghbawn area following a number of creeper burglaries in the village. Burglary“A number of houses have been entered during the night by unscrupulous thugs seeking out car keys,” he told Newry Times. “Two cars have been stolen. During one incident the thieves entered a bedroom to take the keys to a vehicle. At another house they were disturbed and left empty handed. These parasites are gaining entry by punching out the barrel of the door lock. “I would advise householders to increase security around the front, back and patio doors of their properties in order to deter these criminals. Communities need to work through the local Community Safety Groups or Neighbourhood Watch Schemes in order to thwart these activities.”
