Police reissue appeal for witnesses after Newry arson attack

Detectives in Newry have reissued their appeal for information following an arson attack on a flat in Cleary Crescent on Monday, 22nd June.

At around 9.15pm on the night in question, police received a report that an attempt had been made to set fire to the front door of a flat in Cleary Crescent. Speaking to Newry Times after the incident, Inspector Jon Burrows said, “Early indications are that a flammable liquid was poured on the door from a plastic bottle before the bottle was placed at the door and set alight. Damage was caused to the door.” The flat was not occupied at the time however a neighbour in a nearby flat was treated for some smoke inhalation according to police. Police would like to hear from anyone who has information in relation to this incident and can be contacted at Ardmore on 101, quoting ref: 1305 220615.
