Slieve Gullion Sinn Fein Councillor Mickey Larkin called with Jonesborough resident Jessica Finnegan to wish her well as she left to compete at the British Show Pony Society International Summer Championships. jessica1“Jessica is another example of the incredible talent that exists in this area,” he explained to Newry Times. “She is one of only ten riders from the north who are competing at Grantham in England. Having bred her horse, Tommie Girl, herself and worked so hard to achieve this position on the team for the third time I had to call and wish her and Tommie all the best for the competition. Larkin added, “To reach this level whilst also studying full time at CAFRE shows the dedication to and love for the sport that Jessica has. “The event is held over five days with teams from across Europe competing. I know that both Jessica and Tommie will do us proud.”
