Cars damaged with nails in Newry housing estate

Police in Newry are appealing for information after a number of cars were damaged in recent weeks in the Ardfreelin area.

psni13For the past number of months nails have been placed on the road in Ardfreelin and in the driveways of some homes, causing damage to a number of cars and bicycles.

The nails are of a stud wall type with large heads so they can be placed pointing upwards. Police believe this is malicious.

A PSNI Spokesperson said, “Not only are vehicles being damaged on a regular basis but it is only a matter of time before a child or resident is injured.”

Police would like to hear from anyone who has information in relation to this matter. They are also asking local residents to be vigilant. If you notice anything untoward or out of place phone police on 101.
