Sinn Féin MLA Caitriona Ruane has congratulated the organisers of the Boley Festival in Hilltown on another successful family event. boley1Speaking to Newry Times, Ruane said, “I would congratulate the organisers for the Boley Fair for putting on another magnificent event for the entire family over the weekend. This is the 30th year that the Boley Fair has been held in Hilltown and this year was again bigger than better. “The fair promotes the rural and farming way of life and there was something for the entire family from music, face painting, exhibitions and a mobile farm. “The demonstrations from the blacksmiths, sheep shearers and rope twisters were an education on how rural Ireland existed in the past and how skills are passed down from generation to generation. “The jam making and bread making, as well as fun, is about reviving skills that were once common place in rural Ireland,” she added.
