Two arrested in Bessbrook after seizure of drugs
Police in South Armagh have arrested two men following the seizure of drugs.
On Friday night, 30th January, police received a report of an intoxicated man refusing to a pay a taxi fare in Bessbrook.
Constable Sean Bell explained, “We attended and spoke to the male who was subsequently searched under the Misuse of Drugs Act.
“A quantity of suspected class A and B drugs were seized and the 27 year old man was arrested for possession of Class A and B drugs and making off without payment.
“We conducted a further search of a property in Orior Park, Bessbrook, and recovered a quantity of suspected cannabis and suspected Diazepam tablets. A 41 year old man was arrested on suspicion of supplying controlled drugs. Both men have been released on bail pending further enquiries.
He added, “We are aware of local concerns around drug misuse in the area and we are proactively patrolling in order to detect and apprehend any offenders. We are asking for your continued support – if you have information about drugs or any criminal activity in your area, please phone us on 101.”
