South Armagh thefts promps police investigation

Police in south Armagh are investigating a number of incidents believed to have occurred on Monday 26th and Tuesday 27th January.

Constable Michael Finucane explains, “We received reports of cattle thefts from fields at Forkhill Road, Mullaghbawn and Mountain Road, Drumintee sometime between 6.30pm on Monday 26th and 9.15am on Tuesday 27th January.

“Twenty three cattle were reported stolen from Forkhill Road and two from Mountain Road and at this stage we are investigating a link between the two incidents.

Constable Finucane continued, “Police also received reports of two burglaries at houses in Michael McCreesh Park, Forkhill and Poets Meadow, Mullaghbawn which took place on Monday 26th January.

“Entry was gained to both properties between 1.30pm and 10.30pm on Monday. Both houses were ransacked and we are investigating a possible link between both burglaries.

He added, “I would ask anyone with information about any of these incidents to contact officers in Newtownhamilton on 101 quoting reference number 220270115. Information can also be passed anonymously through the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
