The annual conference is an opportunity for careers practitioners from schools and further education colleges to meet and share best practice.

The Minister said, “Effective careers provision has an important role to play in the economic development and regeneration of Northern Ireland.

“Rebuilding and rebalancing the economy is at the core of my Department’s policies and initiatives. Good careers support from my Department’s Careers Service has an essential role to play in building a strong economy.

“Careers teachers and advisers must ensure that young people are aware of the priority sectors where we anticipate greatest employment growth.

He added, “In addition, it is vital they communicate the message about the importance of developing the skills and qualifications required in STEM-related careers which are so key to future economic growth and so attractive to inward investors.”
