Warrenpoint local, Tom McGuigan, Health and Safety Manager for firmus energy joined Cormac Wilson, Senior Regional Vice President of St Vincent de Paul (SVP) to help handover £2000 worth of toys from the natural gas company to the Christmas Family Appeal, which is also organised in conjunction with the Salvation Army.

The longstanding joint charity campaign will see toys distributed to thousands of families living in poverty across Northern Ireland and aims to ensure that no child will have to wake up without a gift to open on Christmas morning. Angeline Murphy for firmus energy explains, “We donated to the SVP and Salvation Army Christmas Toy Appeal last December and this year the firmus team members specifically asked if we could do the same again as they realise it is such an important initiative. “The team was very enthusiastic, with every department involved in choosing and buying a selection of toys each. We are all guilty of taking things for granted but at firmus energy we recognise that it is important to remember that there are many families close by that are in need of extra support and to ensure that we give back to the community, especially at this time of the year. “The donation to the Toy Appeal helps families right across the province and we hope that our substantial contribution will bring bright smiles to hundreds more local children on Christmas Day.” She added, “We have found that our community activity not only benefits the areas in which we work, but also boosts employee morale as they are keen to make a positive difference to others. “We commend both St Vincent de Paul and the Salvation Army for their dedication and partnership over so many years to ensure that the all the toys reach thousands of families in need in time for Christmas and we are glad to be a part of the special campaign.”
