Casey urges vigilance after elderly man disturbs Newry intruders

Sinn Féin Councillor Charlie Casey has said that news of an incident in Derrybeg where an elderly resident was left traumatised after disturbing intruders in his back garden was a deeply concerning development and he encouraged all to be extra vigilant.

Speaking to Newry Times, the local Councillor stated, “Hopefully the elderly person who encountered those intruding in his home and property will recover from what was no doubt a horrible experience. “I would encourage all to continue to watch out for suspicious activity. He added, “These dark winter nights leave all open to being targeted by unscrupulous thieves, particularly our most vulnerable members of the community.”
