Police in Newry are appealing for information following the theft of a collection box from St Catherine’s Chuch. Speaking to Newry Times, Con Mark McCartan, Newry Response, explained, “Around 8.35am on Sunday, 21st September, a large, brown, wooden collection box was taken from St Catherine’s Church on Dominic Street. “A male wearing a dark jacket entered the front hallway of the church during mass and ran off with the box, turning right towards Bridge Street. The box was emptied and later recovered at Drumalane. He added, “We would like to hear from anyone who has information in relation to this incident and can be contacted at Ardmore Police Station on the 101 number, quoting ref: 491210914.” If you prefer to provide information without giving your details you can contact the independent Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111.
