Floats galore and spooktacular fireworks on Halloween night

One of Down District’s Council most spectacular nights of the year is just around the corner.

Hallowtides ‘Nightmare on Main Street’ is fast approaching with a great programme of events from Thursday 30th October to Saturday 1st November.

The magnificent Float Parade on Friday 31st October 2014, which has grown dramatically over the past number of years promises to be its best to date.

Newcastle Chamber of Commerce Committee Chairman Jack O’Hare commented, “This year the parade will exceed all expectations. Everyone is pulling out the stops to ensure the Float Parade is a huge success.

“Everyone from Schools, Colleges, local bands and businesses have been working tirelessly to ensure members of the public are in for a spooktacular treat. I am delighted that Newcastle is host to this prestigious event and has become a wonderful attraction in its own right.

Jack added, “The parade will leave the Slieve Donard Resort and Spa at 6.30pm, meandering down the Main Street to Gareth Stewart from CoolFM at the Festival stage.”

The most eagerly awaited part of the programme ‘The Fireworks Display’ will happen on Friday 31st October at 7.45pm and promises to be a night that you remember with the largest display to date.

Get your seat early as it is anticipated huge crowds will draw to Newcastle to enjoy an evening with lots of FREE entertainment for all. The events continue into the night with ‘Dracula the Panto’ taking place at the Newcastle Centre at 8.30pm. Don’t be disappointed and book your tickets now.

Experience the live action of the ‘The Haunted House’ will runs from Thursday 30th October to Saturday 1st November. This chilling attraction will be running different sessions for different age groups.

Chairman of Council, Councillor William Walker commented, “It is great to see local business compliment the Hallowtides programme with pumpkin carving, face painting, great meal deals, themed window displays and much more.

“There is something for everyone in the programme this year and with so many FREE events I would encourage everyone to get to Newcastle early and enjoy a day with lots of FREE entertainment.”
