Police charge man with attempted murder of Newry woman

Newry Area Commander Davy Beck has confirmed that detectives in Newry have charged a 31 year old man with attempted murder, possession of an offensive weapon, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, assault and assault on police. The arrest followed the serious assault of a woman in the Mourne View Park area of the city on the afternoon of Monday 6th October. The woman was taken to hospital for treatment to her injuries which are not believed to be life threatening. The man is due to appear at Newry Magistrates Court today, Wednesday 8th October.
