Sinn Féin MLA Caitriona Ruane MLA has met with Education Minister John O’Dowd MLA recently to discuss the future provision of primary education in the lower Mourne area. Speaking to Newry Times, Ruane said, “This meeting was to look at the future provision of primary education in the lower Mourne area. “The educational needs of our children in the 21st century are changing so it is important that we prepare our infrastructure to meet that demand. “Improving school facilities and ensuring our children have the best resources to progress and maximise their potential is crucial so I welcome the Minister commitment to making that happen. Ruane added, “I will continue to work with the Minister and his officials to ensure that every child in South Down has the proper start to their educational career in order to succeed in life.”
