Looking to get your hair cut for that special day? Got a wedding, birthday party or office event coming up soon? Having a bad hair day?
Then look no further than Scissor Sister Unisex Hair Salon in Camlough. Scissor Sister first opened their doors seven years ago and since then the salon has been ‘head and shoulders’ above the rest.
South Armagh native Maria Kelly, who has 15 years experience in the business, opened Scissor Sister on the 27th of June 2007 but with business booming she had to move to bigger premises.
Those new premises took the form of Camlough Central Station shopping complex, which also offers free parking, and Maria has enjoyed huge success since her relocation in 2012.
With a catchy name ‘Scissor Sister’ – most people automatically think of the pop band Scissor Sisters who had massive hits such as ‘Laura’, ‘I don’t feel like dancing’ and ‘Take Your Mama’ but Maria laughs and explains to Newry Times that the pop band was only one part of the inspiration behind her business name.
“The name came of course from the band but also the fact that girls is another term for sisters, sisters working together with scissors.”
Scissor Sister Unisex Hair Salon has many special offers in salon and on Facebook. You can also sign up for their newsletter at www.scissorsister.net. They offer a very professional and friendly service and all the family is welcome.
So what does Maria think is their most popular services? That’s easy, as she explains. “Our most popular services are up styling creative colour and cutting and Balmain human hair extensions. We stock Redken , Revlon, Goldwell and KMS products and GHD Irons.”
With great service comes business awards and Scissor Sister is no different. To date the Camlough-based salon has won the Redekn NYC style awards Ireland for 2012, NI Colourists of the Year 2013, the Enigma photograph awards 2013 and Sood Salon Guide 5 stars salon.
