‘Double glazing must be installed to help hard-pressed households’ – McKevitt
SDLP South Down MLA Karen McKevitt has said that it is important that Housing Executive homes have double glazing installed without delay.
McKevitt was speaking after questioning the social development Minister in the Assembly on the programme for government commitment this week.
McKevitt said, “I was pleased to hear confirmation from the Social Development Minister yesterday that contractors have been appointed to install double glazing in almost 11,000 Housing executive homes.
“Occupants of these homes have been waiting for some time for the scheme to commence and I’m glad that they know have come clarity around that.
The SDLP MLA added, “While we remain in the midst of an economic downturn, with energy prices continuing to soar, it’s important that we do all we can to help hard-pressed households survive. Double glazing will help retain heat and reduce the fuel costs for struggling families.”
