Daisy Hill Hospital in £9.1m application for improved Paediatric Services
Sinn Féin group leader on Newry & Mourne Council Charlie Casey has described as ‘very significant’ news that the Southern Trust has submitted a business case valued at £9.1 million to the Health Department.

Speaking to Newry Times, Councillor Casey said, “I have just received news that the Trust have applied for funding of £9.1 million to improve paediatric services at Daisy Hill Hospital.
“If successful this will mean an increase of 19 beds and additional ambulatory and outpatient services. Most importantly plans include the development of a dedicated paediatric theatre at Daisy Hill. The case also includes a bid for £6.6 Million for Craigavon Area Hospital.
Newry Assembly Member Mickey Brady added, “I see this as a fantastic development for Daisy Hill and Craigavon and I hope that this bid is successful.
“This investment in the local health estate would mean world class services for the children of the district and it will further cement Daisy Hill’s position as a centre of excellence.
“As a member of the Assembly’s Health Committee I am fully dedicated to the continuous development of Daisy Hill Hospital.”
