Woman left ‘badly shaken’ after assault and attempted mugging

Police in Banbridge are appealing for information following an assault in the Bridge Street area on Saturday, 8th February.

At approximately 3.15pm as a woman was walking along Bridge Street she was approached by an unknown man who asked her for money.

When she refused the man grabbed her arm and attempted to grab her handbag before he made off empty handed.

The man is described as being in his late 20s/early 30s, approximately 5’4″ tall, with long curly hair and wearing dark clothing and a dark monkey hat. He was carrying a plastic bag.

The woman was not injured during this incident however she was left very badly shaken.

Police would ask anyone who may have witnessed this incident or who has any information to contact them at Banbridge on 0845 600 8000.
