SDLP representatives in South Down say they are hopeful that NI Water will carry out a water mains extension scheme on the Ballygorian Road, Hilltown in February. South Down MLA Karen McKevitt commented, “Having spoken with NI Water representatives earlier today regarding the new commencement date for the water mains extension I can now advise residents that work should start on the 16th February 2014. “Work was originally to begin last November but unfortunately the scheme was postponed to avoid clashing with other projects in the area. While this was disappointing news for residents they are looking forward and hopeful that the scheme will run as now scheduled. SDLP Crotlieve Councillor Gillian Fitzpatrick added, “The residents of the Ballygorian Road have had to deal with inadequate water supply and low pressure for too long and the SDLP will continue making representations to NI Water to ensure the scheme begins this coming February.”
