A man has become the latest fatality on Northern Ireland’s roads after he was reportedly hit by a bus this evening in Rostrevor.

It is understood the man was walking when he was hit by a bus on the Killowen Road at around 5:30pm today.

Police have said the crash involved only one vehicle and appealed for witnesses.

On the PSNI Newry and Mourne Facebook tonight, a recent status update read: “Tonight we continue to investigate the road traffic collision in which a man was fatally injured at Killowen Road, Rostrevor. Our thoughts are with the mans family and friends at this difficult time.”

The Killowen Road remains closed to traffic and diversions are in place but motorists are advised by police to avoid the area if possible.
