McKevitt congratulates local filmmakers on BAFTA nominations

SDLP Culture spokesperson and South Down MLA, Karen McKevitt has congratulated Glenn Patterson and Colin Carberry on their nomination for a BAFTA for local film ‘Good Vibrations’.

Speaking to Newry Times, McKevitt said, “This is great news for Glenn and Colin and indeed everyone else who worked so hard to make a great film like Good Vibrations.

“To be honoured with a nomination for such a prestigious award is a testament to the quality of the work and the depth of their commitment.

“It also represents a ringing endorsement for the creative industries in the North. More and more TV and film companies are setting up here and investing in local expertise.

“I’m also glad to see that ‘Philomena’ starring Judi Dench and Steve Coogan, which was partly filmed in Rostrevor in my own constituency, has been nominated for a handful of awards.

McKevitt added, “Glenn and Colin go to the awards in London in February with all our best wishes. Whether they come back with an award or not, they’re already winners to us”
