‘Narrow Water Bridge can be completed’, insists Ruane

Sinn Féin MLA Caitriona Ruane has asked Finance Minister Simon Hamilton what provision he is making to ensure that the Narrow Water Bridge goes ahead.

The bridge has been in the pipeline for decades

Ruane said, “I took the opportunity to raise with the Finance Minister Simon Hamilton the issue of the Narrow Water Bridge.

“The bridge is a major infrastructural project that can bring huge economic benefits to the entire region so it is imperative that we exhaust all possibilities in having it constructed as soon as possible.

“In order to protect the monies from the SEUPB we need a cocktail of funding to commence construction otherwise it will be delayed until SEUPB funding becomes available again.

Ruane added, “While the main responsibility on the hold up lies with the Irish Government I will continue to press the Minister to join with us in looking at funding options that will see the project realised in the months ahead.”
