Damien ‘The Rage’ Rooney has signed a five-fight exclusive contract with the Cage Warriors Fighting Championship. Cage Warriors is the biggest show in Europe that creates worldwide exposure for MMA fighters looking to enter the UFC. The popular Newry man fights out of Team Torres but has also trained with the HIT Squid (America) and a number of times in Thailand. Damien’s last appearance saw him capture the Cage Contender Bantam Weight belt via a guillotine submission against Alan ‘The Apprentice’ Philpott. Damien ‘The Rage’ Rooney is scheduled to make his first Cage Warriors Fighting Championship appearance early next year. A delighted Rooney told Newry Times, “I’m very excited to be signing with Cage Warriors Fighting Championship. The promotion showcases the best talent in Europe and I believe I deserve to be among that. He added, “I believe I’ll pose a threat to anyone in the flyweight division, regardless of where the fight goes, and have my sights on getting the CWFC flyweight title and bringing it back to Newry.”
