Two arrested after Newry fake £20 note incidents

Police have arrested two people in Dungannon after counterfeit notes were passed at businesses in Newry.

On Saturday, 9th November, police received a report of counterfeit £20 Ulster Bank notes being passed by a male customer at a toy store in Damolly Retail Park.

Police obtained the registration of the vehicle the male was travelling in and attended the home of the last registered owner.

A 42 year old female and 43 year old male were arrested on suspicion of fraud by false representation, possession of counterfeit currency and tendering couterfeit currency.

A number of items and notes believed to be counterfeit were seized during the search of a house in Dungannon.

The male and female were later released on bail pending further enquiries.
