Clarke welcomes Rural Transport Fund Voucher Scheme

Local Alliance Councillor Patrick Clarke has welcomed a Rural Transport Fund Voucher Scheme which is now available for travel costs for rural community groups and organisations.

The Department for Regional Development has announced that the next round of the Rural Transport Fund Voucher Scheme is now open.

Councillor Clarke is encouraging constituted, non-profit making rural community groups and organisations wishing to transport 17 or more passengers to apply to the Rural Transport Fund Voucher Scheme.

Clarke stated, “The next round of the Rural Transport Fund Voucher Scheme is now open and provides a £100 voucher towards the cost of a specified trip for successful applicants using a Transport Operator from an approved list.

“I would encourage any rural community group or organisation who wishes to transport 17 or more passengers to request an application pack which is available from 1st November 2013 for those eligible groups who are planning on travelling during January, February and March 2014.

“As there is a limit to the number of vouchers available in each area there will be a selection process to assist those community organisations that help or support the most vulnerable. Community groups and organisations can obtain an application pack by contacting NI Direct on 0300 200 7819 or e-mail rtfvoucherscheme@nidirect.gov.uk,” he added.

Requests for postal packs must be made by Tuesday 26th November 2013 and requests for email packs must be made by noon Friday 29th November 2013, completed applications must be returned by Friday 29th November 2013.
