Police are appealing for information on an incident which occurred in the Church Street area of Newry on the evening of Wednesday 9th October. It was reported that at around 8.40pm entry was forced to the rear of the home of an elderly couple as they sat in the front living room. It is believed that the couple disturbed the culprits who then made off from the house on foot. Nothing is believed to have been taken from the property. A number of men were seen getting into a car which was parked in Cowan Street nearby. Police are keen to speak to these men and also a man that had been in the area selling potatoes door to door. Anyone with any information in relation to either of these incidents is asked to contact police at Ardmore in Newry on 0845 600 8000. Or, if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details, they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111
