32 year old charged by Newry Police after stolen tractor recovery

Police in Newry have charged a 32 year old man with handling stolen goods following the recovery of a stolen tractor.

Officers on routine patrol located the John Deere tractor, which had been stolen from the Dromara area on 13th September, in Bessbrook on Tuesday evening, 24th September.

The 31 year old man will appear before Newry Magistrates’ Court and as is normal procedure the charges will be reviewed by the PPS.

Newry and Mourne Area Commander, Chief Inspector Davy Beck said, “We have told the public about our commitment to tackling rural crime and this arrest should send a clear message to those who break the law that there is no place for this type of crime in Newry and Mourne.

“We have been taking time to speak to members of the rural community about their issues and concerns and I would encourage everyone who lives in these areas to make use of our Farmwatch scheme and work with us to reduce crime.”
