Lose weight, feel great: Shall We Dance Academy announces new dance classes

Shall We Dance Newry has announced it will hold new beginners social dance classes for all those local men and women who have made it their goal to learn how to dance and get in shape.

Patricia and Gerald have been dancing for over 25 years

Commencing on Wednesday 9th October at 7:30pm – 8:30pm in Thee1 Salon in Warrenpoint, it will be an enjoyable 10 week course learning the Slow Waltz, Quickstep and Jive! Each class is just £6 per person.

Shall We Dance Newry was launched last year by local dancing supremos Gerald and Patricia Malone from Newry, who have already run several very successful classes in the Newry & Mourne area.

Gerald and Patricia have won Ballroom and Latin American dancing competitions throughout the UK and Ireland so their experience has left previous groups of beginner dancers with some nifty moves to show off wherever they go.

The Newry duo, who have been dancing for over 25 years competitively and socially, boast All-Ireland honours amongst their impressive array of medals and trophies.

Dancing is a great way to stay in shape and enjoy yourself but Gerald insists it is also a fantastic way to make new friends.

“We started dancing nearly 25 years ago and since then we have met so many amazing people and have forged life-long friendships with people from across the country.

He added, “A lot of people want to live a healthier lifestyle, learn to dance and make new friends. Our class will let you do all three and the most important thing is to enjoy yourself.

The Newry-based couple were delighted with how their previous social dance classes throughout Newry & Mourne fared.

“It was fantastic,” insisted Gerald. “The couples have enjoyed themselves tremendously. Some were there to learn the ‘first dance’ before they get married, others were there to enjoy the social element but all just really enjoyed themselves.

Thee1 Salon in Warrenpoint is the perfect venue to learn how to dance. With a luxury spa, gym and dance studio, Thee1 could probably host BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing!

Owner Michelle Donnelly spoke to Newry Times and said that despite all its contemporary, sleek stylishness, all the regular salon services are available too such as blow-dries, spray tans, hair removal, waxing, facials and even Swedish massages.

Speaking about the upcoming dance classes, Michelle added, “Our newest classes, which we are very excited about is the Slow Waltz, Quickstep and Jive.

“Gerald and Patricia have years of experience and I myself cannot wait to attend them as it is something that I have always wanted to do.”
