Reports of a man aiming a gun at passing drivers is being investigated by police in Newry tonight. Reports emerged earlier this evening on social media websites that a man carrying what was believed to be a gun was pointing it at passing motorists in the St Christopher’s Park area and The Mall. Speaking just minutes ago to Newry Times, a Spokesman for Newry PSNI confirmed that the incident was reported to police but said the police had found no evidence so far after an initial investigation. The Spokesman said, “Police in Newry received a report of a man carrying a gun shaped object in The Mall area this evening. “Police searched the area and found no-one matching the description given and at this stage there is no evidence to suggest that a firearm was involved.” More to follow.
