Councillor disgusted at fuel waste dump

South Armagh Councillor Anthony Flynn has said he is absolutely disgusted at the latest dumping incident of fuel laundering waste which occurred earlier in the week in the Carrive Grove area of Forkhill.

A recent fuel plant found in Silverbridge

The Sinn Féin councillor said, “Local people brought to my attention that five containers of waste had been randomly discarded along the road.

“When I went to the scene I saw that these containers were actually blocking the road, making it impassable for motorists.

“I contacted Newry & Mourne Council’s Environmental Health section and they have committed to removing this material as quickly as possible.

Flynn added, “This is to be welcomed but the fact remains that the ratepayers of this area are being lumbered with an unfair burden as it is they who pick up the cost of removing and treating this sludge.”
