Snap happy in Slieve Gullion!

Another successful event was held at Slieve Gullion recently with budding photographers from the Ring of Gullion area learning the tricks of the trade from Enda Flynn.

Mayor of Newry and Mourne District Council, Councillor Michael Ruane, Councillor A Flynn, Enda Flynn (Tutor) and Sharon Donnelly

Newry and Mourne District Council teamed up with Enda Flynn to provide a free Heritage Photography Workshop on Saturday 7th September.

The workshop places were booked up very quickly with great demand for the spots. In the morning, the attendees were able to learn how to take better pictures outside and get the most from their cameras.

The attendees were then let loose in Slieve Gullion Forest Park to take some photos, it was then back into the classroom to see the results.

Martin Fitzpatrick, one of the attendees stated, “I have really enjoyed today and it is great to have events like this in the local area. I was looking around for a photography class and this one came up at the right time.

“It is an excellent venue to take photographs with the outstanding views of the surrounding countryside and the buildings in the courtyard.”

A number of attendees stated their intention to enter the Ring of Gullion Photo Competition. Therese Hamill, Ring of Gullion Officer said, “It’s great to get involved with Enda who specializes in environmental photography.

“He was able to give the attendees more confidence in their own abilities and their cameras! Hopefully we will be able to have more workshops like this, as there was a great interest in it. It is also great to get more entries in the Photo competition, it will be hard to pick the winners!”
