Final of Belle of South Armagh

The final of the Belle of South Armagh 2013 takes place this weekend on Saturday 14th September in the Carrickdale Hotel.

The event- a fundraiser from Belleeks GAC – is designed to celebrate the positive history of arts, song, sports, music and culture associated with the South Armagh region.

This Saturday 11 Belle’s will take to the stage with their local escorts to represent their town and some of them will even entertain the crowd with a song, a dance or playing a musical instrument. Guest MC on the night is West Tyrone MLA, author and Gaelic Football enthusiast Barry McElduff.

There’ll be a special performance from the Eamon Malley School of Dance and then the Carrickdale DJ will keep the party going with music into the night.

The ladies will be judged by an elite panel of experts including Paul Doughan – Chairperson, Armagh Co Board, Charlie Smith, Art and Drama Society, Lynda Strain, Slieve Gullion Springs and Breige Rice – last year’s winning Belle.

Before midnight on the 14th, reigning Belle, Dromintee’s Briege Rice, will hand over the mantle to another young south Armagh woman. The winning Belle will be presented with tickets for two people and accommodation for 3 night stay in New York for St Patrick’s Day where the Belle will represent South Armagh in the NYC parade.

The best escort will be awarded with two tickets to the all-Ireland with overnight accommodation.
