Alliance Party Down District Councillor Patrick Clarke has hailed the 46th Castlewellan Agricultural Show as one of the best to date to be held in Castlewellan Forest Park and congratulated the organising committee on the record number of entries plus the many new attractions.

Clarke told Newry Times, “With excellent weather and a record level of entries plus the many other attractions gave the 1000’s of spectators plenty to see and enjoy.

“Castlewellan & District Agricultural Show is one of the largest one day agricultural shows in Northern Ireland attracting over 1000 exhibitors and 12,000-15,000 visitors in recent years and is the second biggest agricultural show next to Balmoral Show.

“The Castlewellan & District Agricultural Show showcases the very best of agricultural and rural pursuits each year from all over Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland, Scotland, England and Wales,” he explained.

“The annual event attracted a wide and diverse visitor base into Castlewellan to take part in a range of competitions and classes for cattle, sheep, goats, poultry, dogs, horses/ponies as well as crafts, rural pursuits, social and commercial activities.

Clarke added, “Castlewellan Agricultural Show is continuing to grow every year and this year was certainly no exception.”
