Local sponsor Terry O’Hanlon, VIVO Essentials, Kilcoo, said, “We are delighted to provide support for the Kilcoo 5 mile run and walk, all the funds raised will go towards helping to improve the current GAC, Kilcoo club facilities. “I’d like to encourage everyone to get involved and hope these types of fundraisers will continue to be popular amongst the community and help raise the much needed funds in order to help improve the development of Kilcoo GAC.” The community based event will have both a junior race for young people aged 16 and under starting at 11.30am and an adult’s road race at 1pm. With fantastic prize money up for grabs for those that finish 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in both the female and male categories, the event is set to be an exciting one. “Registration for the race begins at 10.30am at local primary school St. Malachy’s, where all race and walk participates must attend to before getting set at the starting line. This is just one of many fund raisers Kilcoo GAC run throughout the year to help support the club’s ongoing activities, this year alone they have ran the Mourne Challenge – a 24 mile trek through the Mourne Mountains and a team of hikers took a recent trip to climb Croagh Patrick. This year one of their most anticipated upcoming fundraisers is their very own ‘Strictly Come Dancing’, which will fun for one night only in the Canal Court Hotel on the 18th October.
