In the third of our healthy eating swap, we’re focusing on office worker lunches! Do you spend hours sitting at a desk, pop out at lunchtime and grab a sandwich combo to ‘power’ you through until evening? Or do you make yours at home from all those lovely healthy ingredients you meant to buy? Or worse still…do you skip lunch altogether? Study after study has proven that office staff who take a break at lunchtime, preferably away from their desk perform better in the afternoon, citing more productivity and better concentration. The choice of food eaten can also dramatically affect your performance, think lean proteins, fruits and salads with a healthy fat to fill you up, and avoid the afternoon slump by stabilizing blood sugar, all the while boosting health, increasing the pounds in your pocket and reducing those on your waist!

Recipe for a healthy packed lunch – and a healthier afternoon at the computer!

Swap your regular: Turkey and cheese Panini with a regular bag of crisps and a Fanta Orange, oh and maybe a Galaxy if we’re feeling naughty! Afternoon slump – likely!  Mainly due to the high sugar content of the soda drink, white bread and chocolate. For: A healthy home made low GI sandwich with chicken and avocado, served with tossed home made green salad, a handful of nuts and an apple Afternoon slump – highly unlikely! Choosing a sandwich for lunch doesn’t have to mean dietary disaster, just choose wisely! The Food Revolution team x
