Sinn Féin Mournes Councillor Sean Doran has called on residents in the Kilkeel area to be vigilant following a spate of oil thefts in the area. Speaking to Newry Times, Councillor Doran said, “I want to condemn the recent thefts and call on anyone with any information about the incidents to bring it forward as soon as possible. “I also want to ask residents be to be extra vigilant for any suspicious activity in their area and to contact the PSNI if they notice anything or anyone unusual. “No one has been immune to these criminal elements as both urban and rural areas have been targeted. Doran added, “I would call on local people to ensure that their oil tanks are properly secured and that all measures have been taken to secure the area around them, through proper lighting etc.”
