No show like a Joe show as Kernan returns to Crossmaglen Rangers

Joe Kernan last night sensationally returned to the helm of Crossmaglen Rangers football club.

Earlier this month the Crossmaglen man stated that it was a position that did not suit him due to business commitments.

Kernan said just last week, “I am highly flattered that my name has been mentioned in connection with the managerial vacancy at Crossmaglen Rangers.

“I can state categorically that I have no interest in returning to the post I vacated several years ago. I have just launched two new business ventures and these will require a lot of time and commitment from me.

Kernan added, “It may be ‘only’ a club position but believe me it is a 24/7 occupation, a role which you must live if you are to undertake it properly. Maybe further down the line I might be tempted to throw my hat into the ring again but for the moment my business interests are my total focus.”

So, it has been a remarkable change of heart from the Armagh legend that led the Orchard County to their first ever All Ireland title in 2002 and four Ulster championships along the way before stepping down from the role in 2007.

Kernan inherits a squad that will be hungry to prove there is more All Ireland’s in them after their disappointing semi final defeat to eventual All Ireland winners St Brigid’s.

He also will be managing his four sons on the panel Aaron, Tony, Stephen and Paul.
